The sun sprang out for an annual village spring show.

On Saturday (April 13) The Annual Spring Show, in Ebrington Village Hall, was attended by a good number and saw some bright displays of colour as avid gardeners competed for awards.

The show, a cherished tradition in the area, overcame the unpredictable weather with some good displays of daffodils and tulips.

Organisers Ebrington and District Gardening Club thanked the Gloucestershire Federation of Gardening Clubs for offering their expertise in judging the flower classes.

John Clarke won the Stella Elphick silver vase, an award given to the entrant with the most points, while Dorothy Hart earned the club shield for the most impressive exhibit in the daffodil and tulip classes.

Tracey Pursley scooped the Eric Williams Memorial Salver for the best spring flowers grown in a container.

Judy Rawlinson emerged victorious for the best exhibit in the house plants and flow arranging classes, winning the Peter Satterthwaite Cup.

On Tuesday (April 16) club members made a trip to Batsford Arboretum.

Going on a guided tour led by the head gardener and senior volunteer guide, members viewed a collection of illustrious trees, shrubs, and bamboos, notably the Japanese flowering cherry trees, Foxglove tree in bloom and several magnolias.
