Plans to build 62 homes off Hamilton Road, formally approved

Wychavon District Council formally approved plans to build 62 homes off Hamilton Road on June 18.

Nearby neighbours were said to be disappointed when the plans were voted through in January.

Speaking previously, Cllr John Clatworthy said: "The plans were approved, but I want residents to know that a fight was put up.

"I am vehemently against this development, and I voted against it. I was one of the two committee members to do so.

"Congestion is already beyond the limit.

"The estate only has one entrance, and it's 10 yards from the Davis Road/Cheltenham Road traffic light junction, and it's the only access in and out for these new homes.

"There is a long list of conditions, I think 34, that the developers will have to abide by.

"I have every intention of keeping an eye on this and will be straight back to enforcement if anything is broken.

"One resident of Lingfield Road told me that when it rains heavy their garden floods. Their garden backs onto the site, and there's a rise of about two feet. I raised this on the site visit and was told the developer would be putting something in to stop it from flooding.

"One of the main conditions is that no construction traffic must be parked on the Eastwick Park estate.

"Residents are very disappointed and angry. One is still pursuing potential action.

"Councillors are actively trying to do something about it and not just roll over. But at the end of the day, we have been rolled over on this occasion."

Luke Webb, planning director at Living Space, said it was a significant milestone for delivering affordable homes that 'respond positively to local needs'.

All 62 homes will be mixed-tenure affordable housing and more than half of the site has been dedicated to public open space.
