BENGEWORTH Lions began the second half of the season with a 7-3 victory over clubmates Diamonds in Division Two of the Evesham and District Association.

Duggie Allen beat Roger Keyte 21-11, 21-16 and remains the only player in the division with a 100 per cent record.

Allen was well supported by Bryan Kirkman and Jean Lewis who both won two singles each although Jonathan Stride took them both to the deciding set.

Ryan Gregg teamed up with Keyte to take the doubles 21-18, 22-20 over Allen and Kirkman to salvage a point.

James Green, Anthony Lown and Bruce Ford started the new year in good form for Littleton Loopers handing Bengeworth 49ers an 8-2 defeat.

Green and Lown both won three singles each with 11-year-old Ford beating both Sandra Wheeler and Anny Roper.

Second-placed Wyre Barbedwyre were held to a 5-5 draw at Bengeworth Green.

Peggy Mytton's 21-12, 17-21, 24-22 victory over Joan Parfitt and Aileen Berry 21-15, 9-21, 21-18 win over Colin Green put the Greens in command but two singles wins each from Mike Moore and Green, who teamed up to win the doubles, earned them a draw.

Stan Owen and Brian Gregory were back for Bengeworth 49ers when they entertained and beat clubmates Green 6-4. Owen and Gregory both won two singles each but lost to Bill Roberts who also beat Sandra Wheeler.

Wheeler beat Peggy Mytton 15-21, 21-18, 21-11 and toge-ther with Owen comprehensively took the doubles 21-3, 21-6 over Mytton and Chris McLean to pinch the match.

Wyre Piddle Triple X kept up the pressure on H2O leaders Littleton Athletic with 4-1 and 5-0 wins over clubmates Red Devils and SDM Veela.

Adam Monks was unbeaten in both matches with the Red Devils only success coming when David Fisher beat Craig Pitcher 18-21, 21-15, 21-18.

Martin Brown and Andrew Taylor from Littleton Athletic beat clubmates Warriors 5-0 but the match was much closer than the scoreline suggests with Brown coming back from 9-1 down in the deciding set against Phil Talbot to win 21-16.

The Warriors also went down 4-1 to Wyre Piddle QT. Charles Fisher was unbeaten on the night with debutant Howard Freemantle beating Edward Talbot 21-16, 21-13.

SDM Wizards Alan Chung beat Eleanor Lasota and Helen Houselander in the 4-1 defeat of Littleton Flirts. Ben Metrovich also beat Lasota but lost 21-19, 17-21, 12-21 to Houselander.
