Kevin Powell has been appointed as the new chairman of The Worcestershire Ambassadors, the organisation drawn from leaders in the county’s business and community.

The retired national police federation leader has been an Ambassador since 2007 and was vice-Chairman of the organisation in 2018. The Worcestershire Ambassadors share a common enthusiasm to create a county to be proud of through events, networking and sponsorships of community activities.

The Ambassadors promote all the positives about living and working in the county, linking organisations together and developing social and economic prosperity for Worcestershire.

The appointment coincides with the Worcestershire Ambassadors confirming that under outgoing chairman, Phil Dutton, £140,000 was raised for charity and good causes during 2018.

Mr Powell, who lives in Stourport with his wife Suzy said: “I am passionate about Worcestershire and committed to working proactively to make the county a better place to visit, live and work in.

"I am especially enthusiastic about enhancing our links with our sporting achievements within the county, from school level upwards.

“Together with Julia Williams as vice-chairman, we will be working hard with the board to continue to grow and evolve the Ambassadors over the next two years.”
