We were delighted to recently announce the beginning of our 5G factory trials in Worcestershire, the first to have taken place in the UK.

This really is a significant step towards the creation of smart factories in Britain and our innovations in 5G are set to completely transform the way that advanced manufacturing businesses operate in the UK.

On a local level, our first 5G factory trial is enabling Worcester Bosch to improve productivity by developing preventative maintenance and fixing critical failures before they happen. We have also enabled Yamazaki Mazak to conduct trials for troubleshooting applications, which will allow senior engineers to remotely guide onsite engineers through machine maintenance.

Automated processes and technology

I am really pleased that we have been able to go live with the UK’s first 5G factory trial and I think that this is a monumental step in delivering a significant productivity increase to the manufacturing sector and the UK economy. We are proud of the collaboration between all consortium members in making this happen and will be working closely to deliver the expected results from the live 5G trials.

Next week the Worcestershire 5G Consortium will be moderating the Connectivity session at Mobile World Congress, the largest mobile event in the world, and I look forward to being able to share our huge announcement with over 100,000 key industry leaders.
