THE Speaker for the February meeting had to cancel and Ray Sturdy kindly stepped in at the last minute with a talk on “The Real Dads Army” 1940-1944. I am sure the majority of members listening to it would have had some part of the family involved in the Home Guard and he gave a touch of realism with pictures of how they had to cope. He gave his talk on behalf of Cancer Research UK for which he had already collected £70,000. The chairman thanked him. It was agreed that part of our funds should go to the benefit of the members, so there will be another free lunch on April 21 to celebrate the Queens 90th birthday. Unfortunately, Polly has had to give up her job organising the Pub Lunches which she has done so well over the past years, so we are looking for a volunteer to take it on. Our next meeting will be March 23 when we will be entertained by the Pensham Singers, there will be Tea, Coffee and Hot Cross Buns. The Meeting is held at Peopleton Village Hall 10.30 for 11am. Visitors and new members are very welcome, call 01905 458458.
