WE held our AGM on February 22 at which Vice-President Grenville Burrows was elected President and the outgoing President, George Bourne, duly handed over the chains of office. After the election of the committee, the Quaich award for outstanding service to the Club was awarded to Chris Donough who was standing down as Press Secretary. He thanked the committee for this honour in an uncharacteristically short speech.
A programme of events for the coming year was distributed which includes a behind-the-scenes visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway at Toddington and a trip over the newly opened line to Broadway, followed by a pub lunch. In June there will be a summer lunch. Looking forward to these will help to dispel any winter blues.
We meet every Thursday at 10am at The Boathouse, Evesham Rowing Club. Our speaker on March 1 is Dr. Gill White on Bess of Hardwick and Hardwick Hall and on March 8 we have Yvonne Penn from the Sailors' Society. Full details can be found on our website www.eveshamprobus.co.uk.
