A welcome cup of coffee greeted members as they arrived for our monthly meeting. Our new President, Gill Proops, opened the evening by introducing our speaker, Lyn Gibson, who is in charge of Parks and Green Spaces for Wychavon DC which covers Parks in Droitwich, Pershore and Evesham. Lyn told us how she had become interested in gardens/green spaces and had become an apprentice continuing to get various diplomas/degrees. She had worked in Portsmouth as well as St. Helens in Lancashire before joining Pershore College and then Wychavon DC. Her remit covers everything from the plants, trees, architecture, paving, children’s play areas, walls - well everything. Her enthusiasm for her work was obvious and we all enjoyed this interesting insight into the Parks we all know and often ‘take for granted’. She was warmly thanked by Gill. We finished the evening covering WI matters, both County and National. The monthly flowers were won by Pat Moss, our outgoing President. Pauline Bamber read a poem she had written covering the activities of the ten ladies from our Institute who had joined the Worcestershire weekend at Denman College.

The Lenches WI welcome new members and visitors – they meet on the third Monday of each month.
