INJURED British soldiers will tuck into a home-grown, farmreared turkey dinner this Christmas, thanks to Worcestershire farmers.

Michael Attwell, of Beoley, has joined other producers to support troops and their families over the festive season.

The Turkeys for Troops campaign was launched by the NFU and UK Turkey website with help from the Ministry of Defence after teaming up with Connect Packaging.

Farmers will deliver their turkeys to a variety of hospitals up and down the country and birds from Mr Attwell’s family business will go to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

Mr Attwell said: “I think the campaign is tremendously important as we are trying to show our thanks to the troops for what they have done for us. We couldn’t supply them all because the logistics make it impossible but I know a lot of farmers expressed a desire to give their support.”

NFU regional director in the Midlands John Mercer said: “Getting involved with the campaign has been a real privilege and we wish our Forces all the best this Christmas.”
