THE search is on for a gamekeeper worthy of the title Farmers Weekly/Country Land & Business Association (CLA) Game Fair Gamekeeper of the year.

The award will be presented at the CLA Game Fair, Belvoir Castle, Grantham, Leicestershire, which runs from Friday to Sunday, July 24-27, to the keeper who employs best practice on all aspects of the shoot in a way that also benefits wildlife.

The award is open to all full and part-time keepers on all types of shoot, large and small, with reared or wild birds.

All are expected to work to high standards and follow the code of good shooting practice.

The prizes include £400 for the winner and £150 each for the two runners-up. All three will receive an engraved hipflask, a pair of Game Fair tickets, overnight hotel accommodation for two and dinner with the other finalists prior to the presentation of the prizes and lunch in the members enclosure following the presentations.
