CHAIRMAN Tony Bomford described the Vale of Evesham Autumn Show as “the best show we have ever had” at the show annual dinner.

He told guests at the event at the Wheelbarrow Castle in Radford it was the second best show financially and they had been able to donate £2,500 to local charities.

Mr Bomford said: “We owe a big debt of gratitude to all our helpers who make this show possible. Without all the voluntary help there would be no show.”

On entries, the chairman said: “We had a wonderful lot of sheep, though the cattle entries were a bit disappointing, mainly due to TB restrictions. I hope we can keep going with rare breeds of cattle for the nest few years at least.”

Joshua Briggs, who organises the cattle and sheep sections, pointed out that Evesham was not alone with regard to cattle entries which generally were not getting any better at any of the shows.

“We were very pleased with the sheep we had at the show, probably our largest-ever and a lovely display of different breeds.”

Mr Briggs said a lot of people thought running a show was easy but there was a lot of paperwork involved and it was good to have help.

Joan Bomford said the horse section was again a great success with good entries across the showing, jumping and gymkhana rings, which were busy all day.
