PERSHORE Cricket Club's journey in the Vitality T20 Plate will continue after they won the Southern Area Final at Wokingham on Sunday.

The Plums comfortably chased down Waltham Cricket Club's 178 to win the match and seal their place in the National Final next month after beating Chalke Valley Cricket Club in the semi-final earlier that day.

The National Final will take place at Wantage Road, Northampton on Sunday 19 September.

Having eased past Chalke Valley in the semi, Pershore went head-to-head with Waltham for a chance to compete for the trophy in around three weeks time.

Waltham won the toss and opted to bat first.

An opening partnership of 50 set the tone of the innings for Waltham but Pershore plugged away and eventually managed to restrict their opposition to 177-5 after their 20 overs.

Mike Green (3-35) was the pick of the bowlers for Pershore.

James Kinder and Green were conservative to start the run chase for The Plums but the latter then accelerated to 55* with the score at 69 without loss.

Kinder was removed (14) just before Green reached his century off 40 balls in the 10th over as Pershore sensed victory.

The centurion was then given a standing ovation as he departed after a brilliant catch, ending a wonderful knock of 115.

Pershore needed 45 more runs to win and Charlie Norton and Liam Ridings batted sensibly and in the 14th over, a clean cover drive for four from Ridings saw them over the line with plenty of room to spare.
