BIDFORD’S Big Meadow is all ready for the summer season on April 1 now the refurbishment programme has been completed.

Over a period of three to four years the popular recreation ground has been spruced up and 27 new trees have been planted by Warwickshire County Council’s forestry department.

Bidford Parish Council commissioned local blacksmith SPR Designs Ltd to make tree guards “which not only protect the young trees, but enhance the look of the avenue”, said clerk Elizabeth Uggerloese.

She added: “The refurbishment of the Big Meadow is now complete and it will open its gate on Friday, April 1. Cars are able to enter and park on the Big Meadow for the summer season (until September 30) for £2.50.

“This will enable them to enjoy a full day in Bidford, sitting or walking by the riverside; the children can use new, challenging play equipment; visiting the pretty High Street, which is in the conservation area of Bidford, its shops, pubs and restaurants which is easily accessible from the Big Meadow by crossing Bidford Bridge.”
