NO planes, trains or automobiles will be allowed into an energetic village event to raise money for charity.

The ‘Salford Priors 3’ will see fund-raisers taking to the streets on foot or on two wheels as they walk, run or cycle a choice of three routes.

Those taking part can take on either a four, 10 or 40 mile track, or a combination of courses, as they raise money for the cancer unit at the University of Birmingham Hospital, also known as the QE.

However, participants can make a request to raise the money for a charity of their choice, as long as they inform the organisers beforehand.

The start and finish point of the challenge will be the Bell Inn at Salford Priors and the event will be held on the morning of Saturday, August 13. Pub landlord David Atkinson, who is helping to organise the event, said: “This is a local event for a very worthy charity which one of the organisers, Brian Seabourne, has a personal connection with after beating pancreatic cancer. We hope lots of people get involved and raise as much as possible for the charity.”

David and Brian have also asked for support from people in helping them prepare for the event as they have to provide signage on the routes, support vehicles, staff and first aid as well as refreshments such as water, fruit and chocolate.

Entrants or those with offers of support in preparation for the Salford Priors 3 can find more details at thebellatsalf ordpriors.com/salfordpriors3 or by calling Brian Seabourne on 07855 225139 or David Atkinson on 01789 772112.
