Pershore Town manager Danny Janes has rejected an offer from Worcester City FC.

The Blue and Whites are looking to recruit a new gaffer after Tim Harris resigned following a string of bad results.

It is understood that Janes was approached by City on Friday but decided to turn down the offer in favour of remaining with the Plums.

He informed both clubs of his decision this morning, Tuesday, September 20.

"I am delighted to be staying at Pershore Town and to achieve the objectives we set out to achieve," said Janes.

"I think very highly of the club I was approached by and I was very flattered by their interest.

"I am enjoying my work here at Pershore and we have put so much time, effort and dedication in to be where we are now, it just didn't feel right coming away from our project at this stage.

"I want to fulfil what we set out to do and to take this club to the level is should be at."

Janes only joined Pershore from FC Stratford in November of last year.

Since then he has taken numerous plaudits for his rolein turning around the Plums' fortunes as they finished the 2021/22 season with a three-strong trophy haul.

Having started the current campaign in impressive fashion, rumours began to circulate of an approach which was indeed waived in order to resolve the situation at its earliest possible chance.

Janes added: "It was a decision that was difficult because the potential project was one that really excited me and the pressure that would have come with it I would have thrived under.

"Pershore Town is where my heart is, the squad we have put together are phenomenal as a group, the links we have created with the club as a whole, the fan base we are building and the trust the Chairman and Director of Football have put in us are so important for me.

"I want to repay that trust and ensure we deliver what we set out to do."
