PERSHORE Town have added a second new face to their squad for the 2023/24 Hellenic League Premier season in defender Jyrel Bojang.

Bojang arrives from MFL Premier outfit Studley, who he made 35 appearances for last season.

New Pershore boss Lewis Marston says he is "everything I look for in a defender".

"I’ve known Jyrel for 2/3 seasons now, he’s someone who’s really committed to his football," he said.

"I admire his ambitions to progress and reach as high as he possibly can, and I feel this is a season he can really kick on to achieve those goals.

"He is everything I look for in a defender, he’s strong in 1v1 duels but also possesses great composure on the ball and wants to play football how me and the management deem is the correct way. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can get out of Jyrel this year."

Bojang joins former Worcester City and Evesham United striker Sean Brain as a new face through the door at Pershore, who have focussed more on retaining the services of the players who helped them win the Hellenic League Division One title last season to gain promotion.

Scott Hammond, Ben Johns and Jordan Jones confirmed they were staying put on Monday, as well as the likes of Josh Willis, Petar Tonchev, top goalscorer Aidan Clark and midfield maestro Sam Clark.

Defender Matt Nutt and the experienced Sean Cooke committed their futures to The Plums, whilst "Pershore legend" James Baldwin has also decided to remain.

Someone who really has cemented his legendary status in recent years, Steve Webb, will also play for the Plums next season. He is now approaching his 15th campaign for Pershore.

Popular goalkeeper Eddie Cox was another who Marston will have been delighted to see re-sign, as well as new captain Jordan Adams.

Two players who played a big part in helping Pershore reach Step 5 for the new season, Kirk Layton and Logan Stoddart, have both joined Worcester City.
