THE city’s giraffes have now said goodbye and the Worcester Stands art trail has come to an end.

On Sunday evening the decorated sculptures were collected from the streets and placed in storage, where they will be preserved for the live auction taking place on October 11.

With £2,500 expected to be the starting price for each sculpture, the money raised will go to the St Richard's Hospice Build 2020 Appeal; a £5.3m expansion to support more patients and families in Worcestershire.

The Worcester Stands Tall app has recorded more than 179,000 visits to individual giraffes, while more than 1,800 selfies have been uploaded to the app’s gallery.

A farewell event is taking place on October 4 at Worcester Cathedral, which will give everyone the chance to see all 30 giant giraffes and 27 calves all together before they trot off out of Worcester.

Proceeds from the Farewell Event will support St Richard’s hospice's Build 2020 Appeal.

Worcester News are asking readers to send in a selfie with their favourite giraffe. All photographs can be sent to grace.walton@newsquest.co.uk
