ON THURSDAY September 13, Wellington Heath residents went to the polls for a referendum to decide whether or not the village's Neighbourhood Development Plan should be supported.

The plan is the planning blueprint for how the village should grow and development over the next few decades.

The referendum resulted in a clear vote of support from parishioners, with 92% of those voting stating that they wanted Herefordshire Council to use this plan in deciding planning applications in the parish.

Peter Constantine, chairman of the Neighbourhood Development Plan Group said: "The turnout was 39% which is considered a satisfactory percentage in a local election. It is anticipated that the plan should be adopted by Herefordshire Council Cabinet in around one month.

"The plan has taken three-and-a-half years of consultations, meetings and surveys as well as thousands of hours of hard work by a core group supported by parishioners."
