A PUB has been named as one of the best pubs in Britain by a national newspaper.

The Maytime Inn has been chosen by The Times as one of the best pubs in Britain. The article, published on September 15 was compiled by the Good Pub Guide and listed 30 pubs around England, Scotland and Wales on the criteria of being the best places to eat, drink and

stay.

The Maytime Inn is a historic coaching house sat beside the River Windrush in the quaint and quiet village of Asthall, Oxfordshire. The pub has been managed by landlord, Dominic Wood, and his spaniel, Alfie, for the last six years. The article praised the Maytime for its “spectacular”selection of gins, weekly menu and its bedrooms which were described as “charming” by the

author of the article.

Speaking of this latest accolade Mr Wood said “Running the Maytime Inn is ultimately a labour of

love. After all, who doesn’t dream of owning a pub? However, getting recognised nationally as one

of the best pubs in the UK for our efforts is a crowning achievement.” He added “We’re incredibly lucky at the Maytime to be located in such a beautiful setting, surrounded by passionate producers of great food and drink, from whom we source most of what we serve in the pub. We would have never received this accolade without the tireless and continued hard work of every member of the team here at the Maytime Inn.”
