Flood warnings were still on place on the river Wye in Herefordshire this morning.

They are in place for Lydbrook, from Hereford to Ross-on-Wye, the Wye in north Hereford, and the Wye in south Hereford.

The warnings remain after high river levels brought a series of remarkable sights yesterday.

Among the many spectacles one in particular stood out... thousands of windfall apples bobbing at speed down the swollen river Wye.

They caught the attention of several people out with their phones and cameras for a glimpse of the first floods of the season.

Hereford Times:

Another shot of apples trapped at the old bridge. By @DaveThroupEA, Environment Agency

Dave Throup, Environment Agency manager for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, spotted dozens of apples trapped against the piers of the old bridge in Hereford.

"Anyone know the owner?" he quipped.

Some people managed to capture the rafts of apples on video too.

On Twitter, Colin Butters said: "There are thousands and thousands of apples floating down the river Wye at Ross-on-Wye."

More fabulous pictures of flooding along the Wye

Roger James Fuller, also on Twitter, asked: "For nearly three hours apples have been rushing by the windows on the flooding river Wye. Why?
