A MAN was taken to hospital and a horse died after a crash near Ombersley.

Road closures are in place after the serious crash on the A449, which happened at around 11.40pm on Sunday night.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, a Vauxhall Astra and a Vauxhall Vivaro van.

The driver of the Astra, a man in his 30s, sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital, while the Vivaro driver a man in his 30s, sustained minor injuries.

Police say the horse, which was out on the road and involved in the crash, sadly died at the scene.

Road closures are currently in place on the A449 between the Mitre Oak island heading towards Worcester and Crossways Green, and police advise the public to take an alternative route until the road has reopened.
