FLOWERS left in memory of Bromsgrove teenager Tom Jones on Worcester's Sabrina Bridge will be removed this week.
The 18-year-old University of Worcester student went missing last month after a night out during fresher's week, prompting a major search that ended in his body being found in the River Severn.
The Sabrina Bridge, near to Tom's last known whereabouts, has been covered in flowers and messages of support from friends, family members and well-wishers.
Now, following discussions with Tom's family, Worcestershire County Council and Worcester City Council have agreed to remove all the tributes this Wednesday (October 17).
Jon Fraser, from Worcestershire County Council Highways, said: "It has been such an incredibly hard time for the family but the number of tributes on the bridge just go to show how well loved Tom was.
"We've met with Tom's parents and the tributes are being removed on Wednesday with their agreement.
"They have already been onto the bridge and taken away specific mementos to remember their son.
"The flowers will be turned into compost and put into the riverside flower beds and city centre parks."
As part of a refurbishment of the Sabrina Bridge next year, a memorial to Tom will be created at the site.
