YOUNGSTERS from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Warndon have raised £250 thanks to a tea and cake afternoon.

Parents and visitors enjoyed the cakes made by reception pupils with the help of the school's kitchen staff.

The sale was one of a series of charity events held by the school, which raised £6,000 for charity last year.

The school says children often come forward with their own ideas to support charities that are close to their heart, leading assemblies, promoting and carrying out cake or biscuit sales with the help and support of their parents.

In the past, the children have raised money for Grenfell Tower and the Manchester Arena bombing as well as recently holding a read and white day to support the people of Indonesia.

Headteacher Louise Bury said: ‘Both the Governors and staff are very proud of our children and rightly so.

"Their awareness of the needs of others is central to our Catholic faith and an inspiration to us all.

"I am most thankful to all of our parents for their commitment to our school and their children."
