HEREFORD’S Three Elms Road will be closed throughout the day for resurfacing for more than a week from Monday.

The closure will be in force from the traffic lights at Roman Road crossroads to Baker’s Lane near The Range each day from at 9am to 5pm from October 22 to 31, however there will be no weekend work.

Balfour Beatty Living Places engineers will be repairing the road on behalf of Herefordshire Council as part of their county highways investment programme.

Access to homes and businesses along this stretch may be restricted during the times mentioned above but traffic management workers will help when necessary and safe to do so.

A Balfour Beatty spokesperson said: “We appreciate that these works may cause delays to the traffic and public while we are working on sections in the highway, therefore please allow extra time for your journeys.

“Please do not hesitate to seek guidance during the undertaking of the above work from the designated marshals who are easily identified by the wearing of blue armbands.

“Please ensure that refuse and recycling is presented by 6.30am on your normal collection days throughout the period of road works.

“Operatives will attempt to make collections but may change the time so that they can access your road before or after works take place on collection day. If your collection does not take place on the normal day please leave it presented until the following day as the contractors will make arrangements to attempt collections again.”

The works will involve the use of hot materials which may stick to footwear and tyres so residents are advised to avoid walking or driving across newly laid surfaces.

The process also involves the use of heavy construction machinery so children should not be allowed children to run or play either on or near these works.
