A PUB in Bromsgrove has reopened after undergoing a major refurbishment to divide the venue into a sports room and separate bistro.

The Crown Inn in Catshill now boasts a quiet family-friendly restaurant, with a new a la carte menu and lounge area, and a bar with five televisions screening Sky and BT Sports.

Manager Tony Rees said: "We've undergone a £200,000 refurb which has involved our two rooms being switched around.

"The bar is now in the larger room, with the TVs and pool table, and our restaurant is in the smaller room with an entirely new menu and a two for £14 deal.

"Our last refurb was in 1984 so it was looking run down and tired.

"Now we've got a new bar, new furniture, new lights - it's got an industrial theme so it looks completely different.

"We've already had people coming in saying they haven't been here in 10 years and they live locally.

"But now we've got the best of both worlds now so people coming out to eat don't have to listen to lads getting overexcited when someone scores a goal."

The Crown now offers 15 gins and a range of rums, with plans to release a cocktail menu.

It has a new head chef, with all food cooked fresh on site, and a new menu featuring grilled meats, sharing platters and pizzas, sandwiches, a kids menu and Sunday roast.

Tony added: "The feedback has been brilliant. Everyone has been saying how fresh it looks and our takings are up massively."
