THE 30th anniversary of the death of Roy Orbison will be marked by a primary school in Worcester.
Pupils from King's Hawford School will don Roy Orbison sunglasses to school and sing his biggest hits at a special charity concert today.
The day is the brainchild of the school's head, Jim Turner, who has been a fan of Roy Orbison for many years.
Youngsters, encouraged to refer to Roy Orbison as the 'Big O', will be able to see Mr Turner's prized possession, a signed Roy EP (extended player), during a special assembly.
The concert, at the end of the day, will celebrate his life and times and also feature teachers and parents performing a selection of the star's hits.
The children will be given a collectors’ item during the day – a Roy cupcake to treasure - and will be able to have pictures with a life-sized cardboard cut-out.
There will also be a Roy Orbison Art Show with pictures based on Roy's hits.
Roy Orbison was best known for his hit Pretty Woman and died, aged 52, in December 1988.
