POPPY sellers in Ludlow hope to top £20,000 in sales for the Royal British Legion between now and Remembrance Sunday.

Ludlow Branch with their team of Poppy Collectors regularly collect over £21,000.00 each year to the appeal and is looking for new members volunteers to help

Last year the branch in Ludlow raised £21,598.06 for the Appeal.

But this is not all that the small branch in the town does for the service community.

There are drop in welfare sessions at Ludlow Library a Welfare team visiting the nursing and Care homes in Ludlow.

Ludlow Branch of The Royal British Legion sent standards from both Branch and Women’s Section and Wreath layers to Belgium for GP90 in the summer.

GP90 recreated a pilgrimage to the Western Front battle fields that took place in 1928.

“We were truly humbled by the response to our fund raising efforts and how the community of Ludlow and the surrounding villages either took part in our activities. said Pat Merrick, chairman of the Ludlow branch of the Royal British Legion.

“Attending the event was so emotional; the sight of all the Standards as far as the eye could see was amazing.”
