AN INDEPENDENT school in Worcester has been named on a prestigious Sunday Times list.

The King’s School, Worcester is in the Parent Power, The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2019 as one of the top 150 performing independent secondary schools in the country.

The 27th edition of Parent Power identifies the 2,000 highest-achieving schools in the UK, ranked by their recent examination results (both for A levels and GCSE).

King’s was the only Worcester school to be named in the Top 150 out of 900 independent and state schools. They ranked 124th in the national table, 39 places higher than last year and were beaten by just six other schools in the West Midlands top 20.

Last month, King’s Worcester was also reported as one of the seven schools in Worcester classed amongst the best in the country, having received a five-star rating by the Good Schools Guide.

Headmaster Matthew Armstrong said: “We are delighted with the school’s positioning in the Sunday Times Parent Power survey. Our 124th ranking and 39 place improvement is testament to the sheer hard work and dedication which pupils and staff have put in over the last year.

"We have consistently achieved year on year improvements, but the school for us is about so much more than academic success. The pupils are encouraged to be themselves, to achieve and contribute to school life via extra-curricular activities and, most importantly, to fall in love with learning. We are interested in inspiring intellectual interests and building life skills which will sustain them long after their time in school.”
