LOYAL England football star Melissa Lawley has remained true to her roots by giving her first ever club a helping hand.

Manchester City player Melissa has donated one of her international shirts to grassroots club Kidderminster Lions.

It's not just any old shirt, but the one Melissa wore for England against Germany.

The shirt will now be put up for auction this coming Friday, December 14 when Kidderminster Lions stage a fundraising event at Kidderminster Cricket Club in Chester Road.

The Lions' head of football development for girls, Sally Haines claimed: "It's a wonderful gesture. Melissa visited the girls at a summer soccer school when she gave us the shirt.

"We will use the money raised from the shirt's auction to pay for some equipment as we're not a money-making concern.

"Melissa is a local girl who played for both the Lions and Ferndale before going onto reach the pinnacle.

"We're hoping the fundraiser will prove a sell-out."

Tickets cost £5 and entertainment will be provided by 'The Sunshine Band'.
