A CRIMINAL has been punished for racial abuse and criminal damage.

Ian Turner pleaded guilty to intending to cause harassment, alarm or distress with threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour against Andrew Smith, in Worcester, on September 23.

Worcester Magistrates Court deemed that the offence was racially aggravated.

The court also found Turner guilty of damaging a table, on September 22, and damaging a wall on September 23.

Both of these crimes took place in Droitwich.

However, the 44-year-old was found not guilty in relation to two counts of beating Kate Grazier, in Droitwich, on September 22 and September 23.

The magistrates also decided that the defendant was not guilty of possessing a steak knife, without good reason, in Clayhall Road, Droitwich, on September 23.

They said he was removing the knife from a 'volatile situation'.

The defendant, of Birmingham Road, Lickey End, near Bromsgrove, was told to pay a £400 fine, a £40 victim surcharge and £100 in court costs.

He was also handed a restraining order, which means he cannot contact Kate Grazier.

Turner was sentenced in Worcester Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
