A SECURITY guard who allegedly attacked a patient at the city's hospital will not work at the site until an investigation has been completed.
A spokesman for ISS, which handles security at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, said the investigation into Friday's alleged assault is underway.
A witness claimed she saw a guard grab a patient by the throat and hit him twice on the back, following a confrontation at around 4am.
The woman said she complained about the guard's behaviour to staff in the A&E department, however they appeared uninterested.
She added that the guard told her partner that the patient had hit an elderly woman.
The witness claimed her fiancé then told a policeman about what had happened.
A spokesman for ISS said police attended the hospital at around 4.15am, following a call from hospital staff, although officers left the scene at 4.24am.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: “We are currently looking into this incident. We would encourage all members of the public to report crime to the police.
“This can be done via 101 or 999 in an emergency. Alternatively, information can be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or via the website.”
