THE county’s disabled people and their families now have the opportunity for a seaside holiday in a specially designed caravan bought by Hereford Lions Club at Portmadoc in North Wales.

For 40 years the Lions Club ran a holiday home at Burnham-on-Sea, but it closed several years ago, and the chance to buy the caravan built to cater for the disabled on a holiday park at Black Rock Sands, just a few minutes walk from a superb beach two miles from Portmadoc, was quickly snapped up.

“It is a perfect holiday location for county families with a member relying on a wheelchair to get about. The weekly low cost rental is subsidised by Lions Club as part of our service to the community,” said club spokesman George Thomas.

The park has excellent facilities, including swimming pool, bars, restaurant and entertainment each evening. The caravan sleeps six and can be hired for a week’s holiday at low cost with families making their own travel arrangements.
