The Headteacher of the Year award in the 2018 Worcestershire Education Awards went to Lynne Duffey, who runs Gloverspiece Minifarm in Salwarpe near Droitwich.

Mrs Duffy said she was surprised when she heard she had won the award and that she had no idea it was coming, saying: "A lot of the children come from a very disrupted education so we bring the farm into the classroom and try to re-build their confidence in school and get them to want to learn again."

“Every pupil has a designated support worker and with 18 children and six qualified teachers, the amount of one to one time the children get is really special.”

Despite winning an individual award, Mrs Duffy is keen to stress the importance of teamwork, saying: “If we are nominated and win this year I would like it to be a collective award.

“We were finalists in four categories last year so for me it will be good if the whole school can win something as it really is a team effort.”

The deadline for nominations is April 18. Finalists are chosen by a panel of judges and winners are announced during an awards ceremony at the University Arena on June 20.
