MALVERN Festival Chorus has handed a cheque for more than £1,200 to St Richard’s Hospice.
The money, raised at the choir’s Christmas carol concert in Great Malvern Priory and carol singing at Morrisons, was presented to the charity at its building in Wildwood Drive, Worcester.
As well as presenting the cheque, representatives from the choir had an opportunity to take a tour and understand at first hand the support the hospice provides for the local community.
Claire James, hospice fundraiser, said: “We were delighted to receive such a generous donation, raised by the Malvern Festival Chorus.
“Every penny will go towards helping us continue caring for our patients, their loved ones and bereaved people across Worcestershire. We are truly grateful for the chorus’s support.”
Malvern Festival Chorus nominates a local charity each year for which to raise funds. The choir was founded 100 years ago - it will be celebrating its centenary in the 2019-20 season - and the carol concert in support of charity is a tradition that was started over 40 years ago. Over the years they have raised many thousands of pounds for good causes.
