RESIDENTS are being warned that if they are caught drinking alcohol in the wrong place in the town centre they could be fined £500.
A message from police says that the majority of the town centre area is a designated public place and continuing to drink alcohol in the area when told not to by a police officer or police community support officer is illegal.
They said: "Failing to surrender alcohol or failing to stop drinking within the designated public place may result in arrest, prosecution and a maximum fine of £500."
If anyone is unsure where the alcohol restriction zone is outlined and in place, they can contact Abbeydale and Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team.
