NOMINATIONS continue to flood in for the Worcestershire Education Awards with another school nominated for Primary School of the Year.

Bengeworth CE Academy, in Evesham, has been nominated for the awards being described as a school where every child is treated as an individual, as well as being somewhere where children always come first.

David Coaché, executive headteacher at the school, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be nominated, especially since two of our staff both won awards last year.

“What we try and do here is work together as parents, pupils and staff to support one another and provide the best outcomes.

“One of the things we do is have regular trips abroad to show the pupils other cultures and broaden their horizons.

“When our Year 5s leave the school they put on a show and what we do is take them to the West End and show them how world class professionals do it.

“All of those things add up and go on to influence them in their further lives.”

Last year Bengeworth, which has more than 500 pupils, had two award winners in their ranks: Greg Satterley, who won teacher of the year, and Anna Chilvers, who won support staff of the year and has since gone on to become a fully-qualified teacher.

Mr Coaché said this is something that makes the school a success, adding: “In Anna’s case she has been able to progress and develop and that is something we are very keen on, being able to develop pupils and staff to be the best they can be.”

The deadline for nominations is April 18.

Finalists are chosen by a panel of judges and winners are announced during an awards ceremony at the University Arena on June 20.
