LOVERS of the great outdoors are invited to 'Pound the Bounds' of Rock, near Kidderminster, to raise lifesaving funds for the Midlands Air Ambulance (MAA) charity.

The Pound the Bounds 'Walk4Life' event will see participants take part in a choice of six walking routes around the Wyre Forest village on Sunday, May 5 - from a 26-mile marathon to a three-mile family treasure trail - to support the lifesaving work of air ambulance paramedics.

Each route boasts stunning views and scenery at the time of the year when bluebells and other spring flowers are in full bloom.

Last year's event raised more than £9,000 for the charity - the most raised in its 18-year history.

Jo Bailey, events and area fundraising manager, said: "Midlands Air Ambulance attends on average six air ambulance missions every day. Over 30 per cent of these missions are in Worcestershire, Herefordshire or Gloucestershire.

“Walk4Life is a fantastic event and a chance for people to enjoy the outdoors whilst supporting a local charity.

"Last year it raised an incredible amount of money and hopefully we can beat that target again this year.”

Registration costs £3 for the family treasure trail, £7 for the six-mile route and £9 for the nine-mile distance. It costs £10 for the 13 and 18 mile-routes and £12 for the marathon.
