A DIAMOND Bus has been stolen from the Redditch bus station - and crashed only yards away in to two parked cars.

It is believed a man or men boarded an empty bus at the station and removed the hand break before trying to steal the bus.

However, the bus rolled into two empty parked cars and some railings in front of Shahi Palace Indian restaurant.

PC Andrew Freeman from West Mercia Police said: "Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this collision but it had the potential to have devastating consequences and it caused a significant amount of damage to the parked vehicles involved.

"While no arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.

"We would therefore be keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage of it."

A spokesman from Diamond said: "The perpetrators started and drove the vehicle out of the bus station and collided with two parked cars and railway railings, immediately fleeing the scene of the incident.

"A full investigation is under way and Diamond Bus are assisting the police with their investigation."

The incident happened at around 7.05pm on Saturday evening (March 23) on Unicorn Hill, Redditch.

Anyone with any information is being asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 657s of 23 March.
