MP Robin Walker has welcomed the news that Worcestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre will receive £259,560 from the government.
The funding is part of the government's Victims Strategy to improve support for those who are assaulted.
Worcestershire was among 79 rape support centres awarded grants, and the funding will go towards services such as face-to-face counselling.
Worcester MP Mr Walker said: “I am pleased that, for the first time, there will be centrally funded rape support services across Worcestershire and the rest of the country. This funding is now guaranteed over three years, compared to 12 months previously, which will provide the Worcestershire and Herefordshire centres with greater stability and security to ensure they can focus on delivering their essential services.”
