KEMP Hospice will host its first ever music festival in August as part of its summer line-up of colourful fundraisers to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The charity, which was founded in 1969, is planning a day-long music event - named KEMPfest - as well as a revamped Midnight Memories Walk and a masquerade ball to help reach its £1.5m fundraising target.

For the first time on June 14, men will be invited to join female participants in the new and improved Midnight Memories Walk, which will bring families together for a 5k moonlit walk through Bewdley in memory of loved ones who have died.

There will be a pink and blue theme for this year's walk, as well as a forest disco with live music from Pink tribute act Zoe Alexander, who shot to fame after appearing on the X-Factor in 2012.

The line-up for the first ever KEMPfest is expected to be announced next week, with famous headline acts set to perform alongside local talent at SHED Food & Drink in Crossway Green, near Stourport, on August 18.

KEMPfest will be a day-long rainbow-themed family friendly festival, and early bird tickets are now on sale, priced £8 for young adults, £12 for an adult ticket, free for under-10s, or £40 for a family of two adults and two children.

Finally, KEMP will be hosting a Golden Butterfly Ball at Spring Grove House on September 27.

The theme for the evening is black and gold, and will see two live bands perform as well as a silent auction, three-course lavish dinner and a champagne after party.

Hospice events manager Shelley Stanley said: "We’re looking at a rainbow of events this summer at KEMP Hospice on top of the gold of our 50th anniversary.

"The events we put on are a vital part of fundraising, ensuring that we can achieve the £1.5m it costs a year to offer KEMP’s services free-of-charge to families of the Wyre Forest district.

"From our first ever music festival, to our glittering golden ball, it’s going to be a spectacular year.

"We’ll be making brand new memories to add to the five decades worth that KEMP has proudly been a part of the local community.

"Memories will play a key part in our annual Wyre Forest walk in June and we are encouraging everyone who can take part to register now.

"The walk is beautiful, with added magic from the incredible people that take part.

"Everyone at the Midnight Memories Walk will be there to honour the memory of a loved one. I can’t wait to see the forest lit-up with smiles, lights and love.”
