A QUIET, pet-free home is needed for an affectionate dog who would benefit from a patient owner.

Bruce is a six-year-old small brindle and white Staffie cross with exceptional needs.

He is in the care of RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch and is looking for a very special home.

Geraldine Haynes, branch trustee, explained: "Bruce is a lovely, friendly boy who is good with other dogs and cats, but very scared of new houses and different situations.

"At the kennels he is happy, relaxed and loves everyone he knows and his familiar surroundings.

"However, in a new home he would be very nervous and get easily spooked by noises.

"We feel this unusual behaviour has been caused by someone or something in his past, which has made him very unsure and on high alert, until he really gets to know someone well and can completely trust them and feel 'at home'.

The branch is looking for someone in a quiet home, with no other pets, who can give Bruce the time, patience and understanding he deserves.

"We would not normally suggest this, but feel for Bruce it may be the only way of introducing him to a new home, where he can in time feel relaxed and happy," said Mrs Haynes.

"Initially, a kennel in the garden may be the best way of Bruce getting to really know his new surroundings and trust his new carer.

"We feel sure, given time, he will be happy coming into the house for short spells and then increase the time he spends indoors.

"Hopefully he will realise in time, it's really quite nice inside with company and much better than being in the garden in a kennel!"

Are you that special person who could help Bruce and are you up for a challenge?

"The rewards would be great - he really is a wonderful boy and would be such a loving companion - once he got used to his new home and surroundings", added Mrs Haynes.
