The grumpy cat Sourpuss arrives at Artrix in Bromsgrove on Wednesday May 29, just in time for the the May half-term.

Could this be the perfect antidote for school holiday boredom?

A beautifully hand-crafted puppet show created by puppeteer, Lori Hopkins, Sourpuss is best suited for children aged three to eight years old and their families.

But who exactly is Sourpuss and why is he so much fun?

A spokesman said: "Sourpuss is a very grumpy, ginger cat. When shut out of the house he feels lost and confused, but the beautiful garden soon intrigues him.

"Audiences are invited to watch Sourpuss on his journey of discovery and enjoy learning the secrets of the great outdoors.

"From buzzing bees to a chirpy robin, stinky rubbish and vibrant flowers this visual show is a feast for little eyes."

The spokesman added: "The forty-minute performance features string and shadow puppetry, original music and stunning design.

"This gentle and intimate show is the ideal family theatre experience for the May half-term holiday.

"Young audience members are invited to come along at 12noon to join in with a puppet making workshop where they can create their own shadow puppet based on one of the characters in the show – a cat, a robin or a bumblebee."

The activity is suitable for ages three to eight years old, with support and supervision from parents or carers."

Sourpuss will take to the stage at 11am and 1.30pm on Wednesday May 29 May, with the accompanying puppet making workshop at noon.
