AFTER hundreds of entries, and votes for all the cute kids, the winners of the Worcester NewsBaby of the Year competition have been officially revealed.

The competition began back in February when mums and dads had 188 babies pictured by our official photographers, Fraser Portraits, at Crowngate Shopping Centre.

This resulted in a 16-page supplement in the Worcester News containing all the babies from newborn up to three years old, and this then culminated in more than 5,000 readers' votes via text, phone and post.

This gave us the top 10 in each category with their pictures published in the Worcester News.

A panel of judges, including Worcester News editor Michael Purton, then had the difficult task of selecting winners from each category, and an overall winner.

13-month-old Noah Michelangelo Parsonage was the winner of the 0 to nine-month-old category and chosen as the overall competition winner.

His proud mum Charley Waring, 21, from Blackpole, said she was shocked when she heard the news.

“We are overjoyed to win,” she said. “We entered really wanting to just see what the pictures would be like, and never expected him to come anywhere in the competition.

“It’s amazing, the prizes are beautiful. Thank you to everyone who voted.”

Meanwhile, in the 10 to 18-month-old category, Willow Howard, aged 16 months, was named the winner.

Mum Charlotte Proctor, 31, from Tolladine, said: “We are really happy. We have entered before, so this time we are just over the moon to be a winner.”

Meanwhile, two-year-old Alice Williams was named the winner in the 19 to 36-month-old category.

Dad Thomas Williams, 32, from Malvern, said: “I saw the photo shoot was happening and thought I’d take her along and get a good picture. It has just snowballed from there.

“We were pleased just to even get through the early rounds.”

Each category winner was given a trophy and colour canvass of their photo, while the overall winner received a special bouquet of flowers, during a presentation held at the Worcester News offices in Hylton Road on Monday afternoon.

Mr Purton said: "Baby of the Year is always popular and it's great to see how much winning means to the parents."
