ORGANISERS of three art exhibitions at Great Witley say they are doing their level best "to bring culture to the countryside".

A spokesman said: "There is so much going on this year; we have improved and expanded so that now we will have three exhibitions all going on at the same time in Great Witley.

"The taster exhibition in The Garden Tearooms ( in the beautiful setting of Lady Rachel’s Garden by Witley Court ) has opened now and will be open until the end of the church exhibition on July 1.

"We have the main exhibition in Great Witley Church – a very fine baroque church - from Saturday June 29 until Monday July 1 from 10am to 5pm each day with a preview evening on Friday June 28 at 7.30pm.

"Live music will be by Alex Walter on piano. Three will be an opportunity to meet the artists, as well as a first pick of paintings in the exhibition."

Great Witley Church is often described as the finest Baroque Church in the UK.

St. Michael and All Angels Church has breath-taking gilded decorations throughout, ceiling paintings by Antonio Bellucci and ten painted glass windows by Joshua Price "depicting biblical scenes, splendid carved woodwork and a large monument by Michael Rysbrack".

Many musicians say it possesses the finest acoustics of any building of its size outside London.

But what of the third art exhibition?

The spokesman added: "As well as all this we have a new exhibition happening at the same time in Great Witley Village Hall. This is specifically for non-professional artists so anyone can join in as long as there is some space left.

"This will be held on Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30 from 10am to 5pm."

There will also be workshops and master classes.
