Children from Stanley Road Primary School have had the opportunity to participate in a scheme organised by the charity ‘Pets As Therapy’. Each week, Harley visits the school with her handler, Jackie, and children choose a book to read to her.

The scheme enables children to develop reading confidence and enjoyment.

Claire Alviti, year 6 teacher, said: "The children loved the opportunity to read to Harley. It is clear to see how much it impacts their confidence when reading aloud.”

The charity offer the service to schools across the country free of charge and schools can register their interest on the ‘Pets as Therapy’ website.
