THE death of an 80 year-old man in Droitwich is being investigated by police.

Residents of Vines Lane said the man was found in a pool of blood this morning.

Neighbours said he was well known for riding his mobility scooter around.

Officers were called, along with ambulance staff to Vines Lane at 8.20am after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man at a house in the street.

A spokesman said: "Police were called at around 8.20am this morning to reports of a concern for welfare for a man at an address on Vines Lane in Droitwich.

"The ambulance service were also in attendance.

"Sadly, the man who was in his 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

"His death is currently being treated as unexplained.

"Investigations are ongoing and a police cordon is in place while officers conduct their enquiries."

A West Midlands Ambulance Spokesman said: "When our crew arrived it became quickly apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene."
