WORCESTER Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section - WODYS - has received a good luck message from The Proclaimers for their upcoming performance of Back to the 80’s.

The group, made up of 57 young people aged from 8 to 18 years old, were delighted to receive the signed photo from the Scottish brothers, Charlie and Craig Reid who emerged on the pop scene more than 30 years ago with their debut album This Is The Story and Top 3 single Letter from America.

Since then they have appealed to generations and been successful across the globe.

The Proclaimers songs are timeless, capturing a gamut of human emotions, and their second album, 1988’s Sunshine On Leith included the euphoric I’m Gonna Be (500Miles) which features in the Back to the 80’s musical being staged by WODYS at Worcester’s Swan Theatre from Tuesday, to Saturday, July 30 to August 3.

Back to the 80's tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School, as remembered through the eyes of a now thirty-something Corey Palmer.

Throw in a Star Wars dream sequence, high-energy dance routines, the obligatory 80’s party, copious amounts of blue eye-shadow, cans of hairspray, as well as some of the most popular songs ever written, and the result is a musical that will delight and amuse audiences of any age.

Tickets for Back to the 80’s can be obtained from Huntingdon Hall box office in CrownGate, Worcester, telephone 01905 611427.
