ADOPT a cat this summer - that's the message from RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch, which is full of feline friends.

Stevie and Wonder are a pair of black cats who are the branch's longest stayers. Stevie is male and Wonder is female and they are 13 weeks old.

Geraldine Haynes, branch trustee, takes up the story: "When Stevie and Wonder came into our care, it was immediately noticed that something was wrong with their eyes, as they looked very sore and were having problems seeing things.

"They were taken to the vet, who discovered they had serious eye defects and their upper eyelids were missing.

"Despite this, we refused to give up on them and were able to find an eye specialist who was able to help. Wonder has had her surgery, as her eyes were worse, but Stevie's operation won’t be done until he's six months old.

"We are looking for a special, forever home for them together, where they can spend the rest of their lives being happy little cats exploring new things and seeing the world clearly for the first time! They are adorable, very affectionate and playful and will turn somebody's house into a family home."

It is planned to rehome Stevie and Wonder under a fostering agreement initially, with full adoption taking place once all veterinary treatment is completed.

They need a home together with no young children and will need at least one adult at home most of the time who is happy to continue their treatment.

The pair require eye drops daily for some months to come, so will need someone experienced and confident in administering this medication.

Roger, meanwhile, is a five-year-old black and white male who is described as a very sweet boy who is also looking for his forever home.

He was found as a stray with poorly feet. As no one had neutered him, he contracted the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), but this doesn't mean he can't have a happy, normal life - most FIV cats do not display any symptoms at all, and live long, healthy lives.

Mrs Haynes said: "We feel Roger was owned at some point in his life, as he loves his creature comforts and having a fuss, but may have been lost a little while as he can be nervous of loud or sudden movements.

"He would be ideal for someone looking for a mainly indoor cat with controlled garden access. We have recently learned that he loves other cats, so could happily live with another furry friend."

If you can offer any of these cats a home, contact the branch on 01905 821272 (option 2) for more details.
