APPLE experts from across the UK will gather in Hereford to decide whether the county's apples are up to scratch.
National expert pomologists will gather for the second accreditation panel meeting at Hereford Cider Museum on August 14, after the first was held at the University of Reading last November.
Experts from the Royal Horticultural Society, well known pomologists like Joan Morgan and Liz Copas, representatives from orchard groups including Gloucestershire Orchard Trust, Marcher Apple Network, The Pippin Trust, East of England Orchard Project, Irish Seed Savers Association and many more will come together.
They will be looking at fruit samples, historic descriptions and DNA fingerprints to decide whether the name and details may be entered on the Register of Local Cultivars.
