NEWS that a campaign has been launched to persuade Burger King to open up an outlet in Worcester has provoked very mixed responses from our readers.

Jamie Curry said on the Worcester News Facebook page: “Yes!!! I hate Macdonald’s awful food. Much prefer something that actually tastes of meat from BK.” Alan Price said: “Too many fast food restaurants in Worcester already. Too many lazy folks dumping the waste. Encouraging those pesky seagulls to over run us. I can remember when we had a Burger King. It was awful and was closed.”

Manuel Peral said: “This is not for the people that don’t want Burger King, if you don’t like it, don’t go. I want a Burger King in Worcester.”

Lawrence Donell said: “Fast food outlets like Burger King are old news. They are a blight on our society. They create a ton of rubbish that gets dumped in bins and finds the way to the streets as well as being poorly-paid work. More independent cafes and restaurants as Worcester is a growing city please. Jo Page said: “Burger King is disgusting. We had one before and it closed down because no one used it so what’s all the fuss with getting one again now?” Isobel Kathryn said: “Burger King is an entirely franchise restaurant business, Burger King does not own or operate a single restaurant in the UK. Currently BK is not accepting any new franchisees however even if they did why would someone invest the £250-£800k in BK when for the same investment McDonalds is a more recognised brand and produces almost double the return on investment. Reality is Worcester simply won’t get a BK.

The campaign was launched under the title People of Worcester want a Burger King on Facebook.
